OKO
“But how could you live and have no story to tell?”
In her practice OKO employs methodology of combining varius cultural references, and creates phantassmagorical works with estranging effect, often humorous and disconcerting at same time. The title of her work “But how could you live and have no story to tell?” is a quote from White Nights by F.M.Dostoyevsky. Starting from the well-known woodcut by A.Durer St.John Devouring the Book, the work is an allegorical depiction of disparity between the strenght attained through individual search for knowledge and paralyzing effect of different methods of oppressive education, media manipulation, as well as blind belief in written word and authority.
